Communication, culture and society: Lecture
We live in a globalised society, and so it’s critical that we not only understand our own culture, but also the cultures, political systems, languages and social structures of communities around the world. Cultural studies, which concentrates on the political dynamics of contemporary culture, its historical foundations, defining traits and conflicts, provides us with the tools to understand such cultural elements. As a student, you’ll consider questions around ideology, class structures, ethnicity, sexual orientation and gender. You’ll also analyse cultural texts including films, books, political documents, TV, art and music – all of which have political, social and ethical consequences for societies. Hear about our range of majors in communication and cultural studies, and the career opportunities available to graduates in these fields.
